Food Bank kicks off program in new facility

The volunteers for the Food Bank were from the Optimist Club.

The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri has a new facility in Kirksville.

The new facility is in the Lincoln Square Shops on Baltimore Street, right next to Jimmy Johns.

Theyâ??ve been at their new building for a few weeks, and Saturday they began filling packs as they kicked off their Buddy Pack program in the new building.

â??We have 885 buddy packs to pack today,â?? said regional coordinator Susan Dublin. â??We will distribute them next week to six schools in four districts. For Kirksville to get this facility is just beyond my wildest imagination. It creates a lot of awareness and gives us an opportunity to educate people in the community about what the food bank is about.â??

The volunteers were from the Optimist Club. Dublin hopes this new building will get the community more involved with feeding those in need.
