Forest Lake Patrol prepares for summer season

He says to be sure all equipment is functioning before entering the lake.

Memorial Day is the initial run or maiden voyage for many Forest Lake-goers.

Lake Patrolman, Ray Jagger, has begun his summer season patrolling at Thousand Hills State Park in Kirksville.

Officer Jagger will be on duty at the Marina and he shares a few safety tips to keep in mind during the season.

He says to be sure all equipment is functioning before entering the lake.

Also, have a properly charged fire extinguisher handy.

Be sure all boat riders are wearing life jackets while riding.

Finally, for those who are planning to take a swim, Officer Jagger has made a special request.

â??Be sure to swim in the designated areas. You don't want to end up with propeller marks on the top of your head and the easiest way to keep that from happening is to stay behind those buoys in the designated areas,â?? said Jagger.

There will be a fishing clinic at Forest Lake on May 31st.
