Former Bloomfield teacher facing more sex charges

      Ryan Gene Grinstead

New details Tuesday about a former Davis County teacher arrested for sexual misconduct with a student.

Bloomfield police arrested Ryan Gene Grinstead on Monday afternoon for the second time in as many months.

Grinstead was originally arrested in September and charged Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee for alleged sexual encounters with an 18-year old student at Davis County High School in 2009.

The new charges stem from a series of sexual encounters between Grinstead and a minor student at Davis County High School.

The most serious of the new charges is Sexual Abuse in Third Degree, a Class C felony.

The complaint filed by Bloomfield police, says that charge is the result of Grinstead performing multiple sexual acts with the student between October of 2008 and May of 2009.

The acts allegedly took place in Grinstead's Bloomfield apartment.

Grinstead also faces a misdemeanor charge of Lascivious Conduct with a Minor.

The complaint on that charge alleges Grinstead convinced a minor student to text nude pictures of themselves to Grinstead.

The third new charge is an additional count of Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee.

Throughout the investigation, Bloomfield police say the Davis County school officials have cooperated fully.

Grinstead could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted on the sexual abuse charge.

A Heartland teacher arrested last month on charges he sexually exploited a student, is facing even more serious charges of sexual misconduct.

On Monday afternoon, Bloomfield Police say they arrested Ryan Gene Grinstead, 31, on charges of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, Sexual Exploitation by a school teacher and Lascivious Acts with a minor .

The first two charges are felonies, the third is a misdemeanor.

Grinstead was originally arrested on September 7 and charged with having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student during 2009.

The student in that case was 18 at the time of the alleged incidents.

The new case involves a minor student, who was freshman at the time the alleged incidents took place in 2008.

Police say Grinstead was released after posting $10,000 bond.

Another former Davis County employee, Patrick Ryan Nicoletto, 33, was arrested on October 6 and charged with Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee.
