      Former Heartland man faces child porn charges

      A former Brookfield, Mo. man has been indicted on federal child pornography charges.John M. Williamson, 35, now residing in Florida, was indicted for his alleged possession of child pornography between November 2010 and September 2011. He is expected to appear in federal court Wednesday in Panama City, Florida. If convicted, each count carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000. In determining the actual sentences, a judge is required to consider the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, which provide recommended sentencing ranges. The case was investigated by the Kirksville Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kirksville Police Department, Western Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force, Clay County Sheriff's Office, Brookfield Police Department and Regional Computer Crimes Education and Enforcement Group. Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Roy is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney's Office.
