Former Kirksville man nabbed in child porn case

Joshua Neal is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography

A former Kirksville man is jailed on two child porn charges.

Joshua Neal, 21, now of St. Mary, Missouri, is charged in Adair County with two counts of possession of child pornography.

The suspect was arrested Monday in St. Mary on an outstanding Adair County warrant.

Court documents state that Neal had on his computer both a video and photos of juveniles engaged in sexual acts.

Investigators said the two charges stem from an investigation by the Kirksville Police Department.

Late in 2011, detectives with the Kirksville Regional Computer Crimes Lab identified a computer in the Kirksville area that was offering to share files believed to be child pornography.

In December 2011, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of South Sheridan in Kirksville.

During the search, police seized a computer and other items.

Joshua Neal was identified as the owner of the computer.

At the time, Neal made statements to police that he was aware of the images on his computer.

Investigators found the child porn when examining the computer.

Neal is being held in the Ste. Genevieve County jail on $100,000 cash-only bond.

The Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force assisted in the investigation.
