The Adair County Farm Service Agency said farewell to it's executive director in Kirksville on Tuesday afternoon.
Phillip Ayers was honored with a retirement party for his 39 years of service with the agency. Ayers has been involved with the FSA since moving to Kirksville in 1982.
Prior to that he worked with the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service, or ASCS, starting in 1974.
He was presented a plaque for almost four decades of work with the FSA. Many people stopped by to wish Phillip well and he appreciates the the turnout.
"It's unbelievable, I never thought that anything close to this many people would come and see me off but it's really nice. It's amazing that you get to go almost 40 years and still have your parents come to your retirement party, that's quite a deal, that's very rare I'm sure," said Ayers.
