After two years of planning, the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Kirksville is finally taking place this weekend.
Rotary Park in Kirksville is looking a lot like the Civil War era.
People who are planning to attend this weekend's events can expect to have tons of family fun and also learn a bit of history.
"We want to remind folks how important the Civil War was to our country's history but also our local history because it shaped the folks who settled here and stayed here after the battle and how our community has grown and changed to what it is today," said Kirksville Assistant City Manager Melanie Smith.
Some of the events this weekend include the battle re-enactment, walk through history displays, a vintage baseball game, and a Civil War ball.
There will be volunteers at Sydenstrickers on the intersection of Baltimore and New Streets to help with parking.
All events are free to the public.
