Those that stopped by the Kirksville Hy-vee had a chance to try a growing group of food products.

Shoppers had the opportunity to attend the Gluten-Free Gala Saturday.

The gala had 32 vendors giving out free samples of gluten-free food and treats that the store carries.

Gluten-free products have become more popular in the last few years to help those who have gluten intolerance.

"They've really come a long way with production of gluten-free product. We have Andrea's from St. Louis with pancakes and cheesecake. You can get pretty much anything gluten free now. It's great to see everyone come out and give a chance to try before your buy," said Hy-Vee Registered Dietitian Andrea Shelly.

Coupons for the gluten-free products were available and the Hy-Vee Wellness Bus was also on hand to allow visitors to test their cholesterol and blood glucose levels.

The Kirksville Hy-Vee has a gluten-free section available at the store in isle 12.
