Go from the couch to running a 5K in nine weeks
Are you wanting to run in a 5K run and don't know where to start? A local group at A.T. Still University is here to help.
The Kirksville Chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians is hosting a nine week conditioning course to get you ready for ATSUâ??s Founder's Day 5K run coming up in October. â??It is a 5k training program for the community and also other ATSU students and employees,â?? said ATSU-KCOM student Whitney Rolling. â??Weâ??re hoping to get everyone more active and motivated to be healthier and enjoy being outside.â??
The â??Couch to 5K" nine week training program begins August 26 and goes until October 24. The training will be at 6 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays starting on the walking path in front of Kirksville High School.
The training is free and designed for people with no experience jogging or for those who want to improve their times. Organizers say you don't have to attend every session. Just come to as many as you want.
