Friday afternoon the 2nd Annual C and H Shrine Festival held at the Jimmy Jones shelter at Greater Ottumwa Park began. The two day festival continues until 11 p.m. Saturday night.
Pancakes were being flipped onto plates Saturday morning at 5:30 and the grill was going all day Saturday preparing for the next feast.
The event helps raise funds for the Ottumwa Shrine Club, Cycle Patrol and Hillbillies. The festival istwo days of fun, good food, and celebrating all for a good cause.
â??It is. It's a lot of fun. And that's what the Shrinesâ?? about is fun and taking care of, again, our crippled children. That's our whole goal is the crippled children,â?? said Greg Fleming, Ottumwa Shrine Club Treasurer.
The Shrineâ??s Club mission is to help children with orthopedic needs whose parents donâ??t have the financial ability to do so. There are 22 Shrinerâ??s hospitals nationwide.
