Governor Nixon honors graduate education programming
Governor Jay Nixon has designated the week of April 7-11 for higher education awareness programming. The governor encourages institutions to show support of those studying at the graduate level and encourage potential students to pursue an advanced degree.
Local professor, Sheila Garlock, says graduate education has benefits on our economy.
â??A graduate education is really important to the economy of our state. Itâ??s important to the economy of our area here in Northeast Missouri. It has financial implications for individuals. Thereâ??s increased pay, increased promotion, increased ability to find good, solid jobs,â?? said Garlock.

In celebration of graduate week, Truman State will host a professional screening for voice articulation Friday, April 11 from 10-12 p.m. at the Health Science Building.
