Grant might make DNA lab a reality

Kirksville officials aren TMt giving up on making the Human Identification Technologies DNA lab a reality. The project has been on hold because of a lack of funding. You may remember, part of the project is private, but another part involves the Kirksville Police Department.Kirksville Regional Economic Development, Incorporated is applying for a 1.2 million dollar grant for that public portion. The grant money comes from federal economic stimulus funds.KREDI Director of Job Creation Phil Tate says he still believes in the project. I think HIT is a great project. I think a lot of us in the community are vested in it in one way or another, whether it be ATSU or Truman, he said.
