Granting a wish for Heartland organizations

The Missouri Humanities Council sponsored a grant workshop.

Competition for money is fierce in the business world and nonprofit organizations are no different.

Some local nonprofits are receiving a lesson in how to apply for and write a grant. A free workshop was held Friday morning at the Kirksville Arts Center.

A professional grant writer from the Missouri Humanities Council was on hand to instruct participants about what goes into writing and receiving a successful grant.

The MHC board awards grants to local programs and projects that are based in the humanities--subjects such as history, archaeology, anthopology, literature, religion, law, philosophy and languages.
