Green City raising money to expand library
Green City, Mo. —
One Heartland town is raising money to expand its Book Nook Library.
Saturday night, residents in Green City gathered at City Hall to take part in an annual ham and bean dinner and pie auction.
Funds from the event will go towards supporting the library.
A member of the Green City Community Betterment Group, Karen Vinzant says the town no longer receives books from Milan's bookmobile.
So, the city took matters into its own hands to make a small library.
"There's a lot of elderly, well just people in general that don't drive and can't get to the library in Milan."
The city currently has around 5,000 books.
They were donated by residents in the area.
