Members of the Ottumwa community gathered Saturday for an eight-hour discussion about food security.
The event was an organizational meeting for the Growing Wapello Together group's Community Conversations.
Around 20 community members discussed ways to arrange the conversations for a whole cross-section of the community.
The Everyday Democracy group came in to assist the focus on improving access to food and health.
"Growing Wapello Together's initiative is to improve health and food outcomes for everyone including children of low income, elderly, or the working poor," said Growing Wapello Together Consultant, Amber Payne.
Growing Wapello Together's next step is to take their message to the community.
They are looking for citizens interested in participating in their conversations.
The participation can range from facilitation or deliberation and discussion.
