Haunted house season quickly approaching

Itâ??s getting to be that time of the year for haunted houses!

The Ottumwa Police Department is gearing up for their annual haunted house taking place at Ottumwa City Hall.

The haunted house will take place Oct. 18, 19, 25, and 26 from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Organizers said there will be a lot of changes this year including the additions of a zombie room which will go along with Zombie Fest as well as an electrocution room.

This yearâ??s goal is to reach 3,000 visitors in four days.

â??We do need volunteers. We prefer adults and at the very least older teens -- somebody pretty responsible, somebody that would kind of get into the part that the would be given. We try to not to hold back too much,â?? said Lynn Diveley, Police Records Clerk.

Diveley said last year $17,000 was raised and hopes to raise at least that much this year.

Proceeds will go towards the DARE Program and the GREAT Program which is taught at Evans Middle School.
