Some northeast Missouri residents were able to grab a hearty meal Saturday while helping a local organization.
The La Plata Lions Club held their annual soup, chili and pie supper Saturday afternoon at the La Plata Elementary School.
This is one of their biggest fundraisers of the year. Everyone enjoyed a warm and delicious meal of soup and pie for only $5.
"As you can see a lot of people that are enjoying the food also enjoy visiting. That is a big thing. Visit your neighbors, see how are they doing. We feel blessed by a nice community," said Supper Chairman Gary Smith.
Smith also said he continues to see turnout get bigger every year especially on cold days like today.
All of the money raised from the soup supper will go toward the club's service projects in the area
