      Heartland blasted by storms

One of many large trees downed by the storm on May 30th

Around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a strong line of showers and thunderstorms ripped through Kirksville and the surrounding area. Southern Kirksville is where the worst of the damage could be seen.

High Hopes had its carport torn from the roof and was left a tangled mess after the winds calmed.

Multiple power poles were snapped like they were twigs. Also, the roof from the U.S. Cellular building was ripped completely off, landing in the lawn of Faith Lutheran Church across the street.

Large trees that withstood many storms for decades fell victim to the Microburst that blasted portions of the Heartland.
