One Heartland cheerleading squad is celebrating a national championship win.
The girls of Unionville Cheer Explosion recently participated in the COA Mid America Nationals held in Kansas City. Both the mini and junior recreational divisions walked away with first place wins. Girls ages 4-18 are members of the squad. Because the squad is recreational, the girls only practice one day a week. That practice is held on Tuesdays for only an hour and a half. The girls continue to impress coaches and parents with all of their hard work.
"The athleticism of the girls is phenomenal. What they bring to the table not only on the mats but at school and such," said Michele Klingner, Unionville Cheer Explosion Coach.
Although competition season is over, the girls will continue to practice over the summer. They will focus on the basics of tumbling and other gymnastic moves. The squad is also always looking for new members. Feel free to visit Unionville Cheer Explosion's Facebook page for more information on the squad.
