One Heartland church wants to be certain families in need have enough food this winter.
The Hamilton Street Baptist Church in Kirksville held the monthly Adair County Mobile Food Pantry Saturday.
At 11 a.m., the church doors opened as about 250 families came in with laundry baskets, boxes, and bags. The church filled the bags with all types of food, mostly meats, breads and snacks. This food was provided by the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri.
For everyone involved, this event is said to be an amazing opportunity to help out the community.
"It's a blessing to the church itself. We have people who say God Bless You and Thank You . The church comes together, we have a 4-H group here helping us. That's a big blessing to have," said Pam Barnett of Hamilton Street Baptist Church
The next mobile food pantry distribution will be on Saturday, January 25. There are no income guidelines to receive the food, but all must show proof of Adair County residency.
