Heartland hospital receives $50,000 grant
Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville has been awarded a "Grow Your Own" grant from the Missouri Hospital Association.
The $50,000 grant will be used to provide the specialized training that is required for the new psychiatric unit known as Transitional Life Solutions.
Kelly Bruce wrote the grant which just received approval in August.
Transitional Life Solutions Director Jerry Paris says the grant will help his staff to provide better care.
"The benefit to be able to provide highly skilled and trained staff and provide these services within a region where families can come and visit their loved ones without having to drive two or three hours I think that's a major positive contribution of the grant," said Paris.
The staff at Transitional Life Solutions provides care for people with mental disorders.
Paris is looking forward to enhancing the program in the future.
