Heartland Humane Society hosts annual spaghetti dinner

This Friday is the Heartland Humane Societyâ??s annual Spaghetti Dinner at the First Presbyterian Church in Ottumwa.

The dinner will be from 5 until 7 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for those five and under.

For the Heartland Humane Society, donations are what keep their doors open to animals in need.

â??Oh everything. Our donations are all with fundraisers, adoptions, and we write a few grants that help us get after a few things done. But totally, the dinners means an awful lot to us and we need every bit we can get,â?? said Jean Sporer, Heartland Humane Society.

Sporer said that there are currently around 70 to 80 dogs and 50 cats at the shelter. And she said they are all very adoptable.

The shelter also has a spay and neuter program for those that are interested
