It's one the biggest days of the year for many across northeast Missouri as firearms deer hunting season began early Saturday morning and many organizations across the Heartland helped hunters have a great start.
In Lancaster the Schuyler County Church of Faith held their 5th annual â??Not Just for Deer Hunter's Breakfast" bright and early Saturday morning.
The cooks were hard at work preparing homemade breakfast dishes since 11 p.m. Friday night, aBd were ready to start serving the hunters at 4 a.m.
Everything from biscuits and gravy to pancakes and scrambled eggs was available at the breakfast and the good food helped bring in big numbers.
â??We've had people who come on in and say that it's their 5th year coming here and we look forward to seeing the out of town hunters who come in and stay locally for the season and they always stop in,â?? said Jeanie McLain, a cook for Saturdayâ??s breakfast.
The annual breakfast is the biggest fundraiser for the church. Even though entry to the breakfast was based free will donations, organizers raised between over $1,000 this year.
