A Heartland park received some new equipment just in time for the upcoming spring season.
The Unionville City Park has some new benches and picnic tables, thanks to a grant. The Department of Natural Resources awarded the park $10,000 to purchase the equipment. The benches and tables are made up of recycled materials consisting of scrap tires. The park was in need of the new equipment.
"The benches that were there, they needed to be replaced. Some of them were in poor shape, so we are excited to have these new benches as an addition to our city park," said John Roach, Unionville City Administrator.
The city received 12 tables and 3 benches which are handicapped accessible. The benches and tables are expected to last for year, and are made of durable materials.
