Some Heartland school kids are now going to be more prepared for emergency situations.
The Wapello County Public Health Department has supplied area schools with "shelter in place" bags.
Each bag contains numerous items which can be used in emergencies.
The items include food, water even an emergency radio.
â??These bags are for emergency preparedness. They are for shelter in place for schools. They are stuffed with enough supplies for four students. Hopefully they will never need to be used, but in an event, they will be prepared,â?? said Lynelle Diers of Wapello County Public Health.
School officials were on hand Wednesday to review the contents of each bag.
The bags should be in place in each school building when school resumes next week.
