Heartland students saddle up for high school rodeo

Students in grades 6 -12 competed in events including bull riding, roping, barrels and much more.

A few Heartland students saddled up for some High School Rodeo in Macon Saturday.

Students in grades 6 -12 competed in events including bull riding, roping, barrels and much more.

The ultimate goal for all participants is to accumulate enough points to make it to the National High School Rodeo Finals which will be held in Rock Springs, Wyo. July 13th ?? 19th.

Although most students are there to compete, they say it's about much more than the competition.

"I can't express how much, we have our own Rodeo family is what we call it. There's so many friends and it's just such a great experience that all the kids are willing to help, all the parents, and we get to spend 10 weekends a year and it's great, so I would recommend it to anyone that is even interested in rodeo, High School Rodeo is wonderful,?? said Madeline Cuppy, Missouri High School Rodeo President.

Following a Cowboy Prom Saturday evening, competition resumed Sunday morning.

Next up for participants is the Ashland Rodeo on May 3rd and 4th.
