Heartland teen accused of starting two fires at an assisted-living center
A Heartland teen is in custody accused of starting two fires at an assisted-living center in Hedrick, Iowa.
Deputies from the Wapello County Sheriff's Office arrested 18-year-old Alexander Krauss late Friday night. The Hedrick man was taken into custody after two fires took place at Highland Place, where Krauss also lives. The Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office assisted in the investigation and arrest. The fires happened last week, one last Tuesday and the other on Friday. Krauss is charged with two counts of first-degree arson.
â??The call came into the office earlier in the day, but I think the deputies and the fire marshal investigators by the end of the evening had come to a conclusion in their investigation where they could make a charge,â?? Sheriff Mark Miller said.
Krauss is being held in the Wapello County Jail on $25,000 bond. The Hedrick Fire Department, Wapello County Rural Fire and the Ottumwa Fire Department also assisted in the investigation.
