You may see people around town wearing orange Friday. And, that is because Friday is Self-Injury Awareness Day.
It is a day where people choose to be more open about their own self-harm, and raise awareness about self-harm and self-injury.
One heartland teen said she knows the importance of this day all too well.
â??I used to cut my arms with glass, and one day it went too far. And I went to a psych ward,â?? Madison Geho said.
â??It was very life changing because I realized it wasn't something you need to do. It can get too deep, and you can hit a vein and seriously injure yourself, and you can die.â??
Geho said having a day in which people show their support is something that is very important.
â??You feel as if you're alone,â?? Geho said. â??You feel as if youâ??re like hopeless and there's nobody out there that cares. A day like this is important because it's there to tell them that there is hope, and there are people that care about them.â??
You can show your support by wearing orange on Friday.
