Heartland town hosts festival embracing culture
Embracing diversity and bringing cultures together, that's the teme for the Multicultural Festival in Milan, Missouri.
It's the second year for the festival and attendees enjoyed everything from live entertainment, food from around the world, and even a dunk tank.
"Last year we had an ice sculptor here and he made a sculpture and he put holes for flags, for the flags of the different countries represented here," said Milan Mayor Bill Phillips. "We have twelve different countries represented here. I was amazed I couldn't believe we had that many people and they all participated in having activities, dance, the food is around."
Festival-goers also had the opportunity to enjoy the new amphitheatre, it was part of the downtown revitalization program and the mayor says he's glad people could use the new amphitheatre to see Milan's diverse culture.
