Heartland woman pleads guilty to theft
A Heartland women charged with stealing from a local business has pleaded guilty.
According to law enforcement officials in Fairfield, Terri Ann Prevett, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of first degree theft, a Class â??Câ?? felony.
Prevett was arrested in September of 2013 on charges that she stole more than $100,000 from the Fairfield Clinic Professional Corporation.
The theft was reported in August of last year, and the subsequent investigation found that Prevett had started taking cash and using the clinicâ??s credit card for unauthorized purchases in 2007.
The theft continued until July of 2013 and ultimately totaled in excess of $121,000.
Online court records indicate that Prevett is scheduled to be sentenced on March 25.
Prevett does have 30 days to change her mind and reject the plea agreement.
A Class â??Câ?? felony carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
