Heartland WWII Veteran laid to rest
Family, friends and fellow servicemen gathered at the St. Rose Catholic Church to lay their loved one to rest.
A horse-drawn wagon transported 96-year-old Jakie Eugene Grgurich's body to the St. Rose Cemetery from the St. Rose Catholic Church.
Grgurich was a World War II veteran from Novinger, Missouri and passed away Wednesday. He worked in the Coal Mines until his tour of duty in WWII. He was then called to train troops during the Korean Conflict.
Grgurich was a well known farmer and business man in Kirksville and Novinger. He was also a lifelong member of the VFW Post 2508, and active member of the 9th Infantry Division Association.
