Honking your way to a good time

The musical "Honk!" is playing at William Matthew Middle School.

Itâ??s a story we all know, and now you can be first in line to see it.

The Kirksville Parks and Recreation Department is presenting â??Honk!,â?? a musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersenâ??s story â??The Ugly Duckling.â?? This is a show for the entire family, but children will especially enjoy it. The actors have been rehearsing since early June and are excited to not only entertain an audience, but also teach them a lesson.

â??Itâ??s good to have this as an option for things to do,â?? said â??Honk!â?? director Heather Darrah. â??I think theater teaches you a lot of good life lessons. This one has a beautiful theme. One of my favorite lines in the show is, â??the duckyard would be so boring if we all looked the same.â?? And I think it goes for everything in life.â??

The first show will take place at William Matthew Middle School on Thursday, July 10 at 7:00 p.m. and run through July 12. Tickets are five dollars for adults, three dollars for kids and free to anyone four and under. They can be purchased at the Kirksville Aquatic Center or at the door.
