Hope's Kitchen is hoping for continued support in 2014

It was a successful year for one local Heartland food group and they are hoping it will continue into the new year.

Hope's Kitchen at the Mary Immaculate Church in Kirksville raised about $8,300 and provided three to four thousand meals to people across the northeast Missouri region this year.

The organization appreciates and thanks the community for their support and doesn't know where they would be today without it.

"We can't operate without the contributions this community makes. We are not funded by the United Way, we don't get grants. We do not require documentation, it's not a need based program. If you're hungry, you're welcome," said Tim Tucker of Hope's Kitchen. Every third and fourth Saturday each month, Hope's Kitchen hot meals are prepared between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and are for dine in or delivery.

They had a Christmas Celebration Dinner in December and are planning a fundraiser dance at the Moose Lodge in Kirksville on Saturday, February 15.

If you would like to help make a monetary donation to Hope's Kitchen, you can mail a check to P.O. Box 854 Kirksville, Mo. 63501 or Mary Immaculate on 716 E. Washington St.

To help volunteer, you can call Tim Tucker or Cathy Wood at 660-626-2424.
