Horace Mann Walk-A-Thon raises more than $7,000

Horace Mann's principal promised the students she would dress up and dance with the Ottumwa Bulldog is more than $5,000 was raised

It may have been dreary out on Thursday but it didnâ??t stop the Horace Mann Elementary School Walk-A-Thon.

It was a day full of exercise and school pride.

Horace Mann students have been collecting pledges that will go towards buying new I-Pads for their school.

Those students that collected $25 or more got their name entered into a drawing for various prizes.

For the student that collected the most pledge money, they received an I-Pod Touch.

â??Oh there's so much energy in the school right now. The kids are having a lot of fun. If they collected $5 in pledges then they get a T-shirt so you'll see a lot of kids wearing their blue today. So they're pretty excited about it,â?? said Ellen Moreland, PTA Member.

If more than $5,000 was collected, which this year was well over $7,000, the principal promised to dress up and dance with the Ottumwa Bulldog mascot. That is just what she did.

Needless to say, the students loved it.
