Nearly eight weeks after launching a massive fundraiser, a local non-profit organization has exceeded its goal of more than a mile of quarters.
Hospice of Northeast Missouri launched the fourth year of its campaign on June 17th, and it just wrapped up at the end of last week. The money raised goes to provide patient care supplies such as comfort medications, equipment and frequent home visits by professional staff. People could donate to the campaign in any of the 11 counties Hospice of Northeast Missouri serves. The organization has collected more than 64,000 quarters in its campaign.
??The quarter mile campaign if we reach one mile it would raise almost $16,000,?? Executive Director Stephanie Byrum said. ??We came in right at $17,000 thanks to the generosity of our community.??
The donated funds also help Hospice provide services to those who are uninsured or underinsured.
