Hospice of Northeast Missouri thanks its volunteers as part of National Volunteer Week.

A northeast Missouri organization thanks its volunteers for their hard work.

In honor of National Volunteer Week, the Hospice of Northeast Missouri held its annual appreciation luncheon at the Thousand Hills Lake Dining Lodge in Kirksville Wednesday.

About 20 to 30 volunteers met with coordinators as they congratulated them and told them how grateful they are for all the time, miles, and support they give to those and their family members in the worst of times when facing the lost of a loved one.

"Oh we are extremely grateful for each and every one of them. They do it out of their kindness and their heart , and they are very much appreciated," said Volunteer Coordinator Terrill Roberts.

Awards, giveaways, and certificates of appreciation signed by Missouri State Representative Nate Walker were given out at the lunch.

Volunteers said helping out Hospice of Northeast Missouri is a great way to help out the community.

"Our presence is an encouragement, helping, and blessing for people and that is what we hope for," said Volunteer Karen Coy.

The Hospice of Northeast Missouri has 55 volunteers in 11 counties across northeast Missouri.
