For years now, the Kirksville Fire Department has been dedicating their time to educate the community on car seat safety.
The Northeast Regional Medical Center has noticed the departmentâ??s commitment to car seat accident prevention and has provided them with a two-thousand dollar check.
The money will be put towards extensive training and certification as well as the purchase of more car seats.
This is one way the Northeast Regional Medical Center can partner with local community agencies and make a difference in some child or some parentâ??s life.
â??Coming out and giving the support to this program for these car seat programs shows that they are not only wanting to take care of you but they want you to prevent injuries, their wanting to prevent that trip to the ER if you donâ??t need it,â?? said Joe Schilling, Kirksville Fire Department Captain.
Since establishing this program, Adair County has seen a twenty percent decrease in car seat misuse. Understanding how to properly install a car seat can be very difficult, but the Kirksville Fire Department is around 24/7 to help.
