Hundreds come out to fight cancer and have fun doing it
Hundreds of people are at the Kirksville Primary School on this Saturday walking to fight cancer.
It's all part of the big 2013 Adair County Relay for Life Event. This year's theme is "Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back."
KTVO was there earlier Saturday afternoon for the opening ceremonies as 34 teams rallied along with cancer survivors to help raise money for the American Cancer Society while enjoying to help out a great cause.
"Everybody is touched by cancer in some way. People are looking for ways to fight it, and this is one way to do that. They're selling food, giving haircuts, planting pot plans. I'm dying my hair purple ...Crazy fun ways to raise money and have fun," said Relay for Life Co-Chair Tom Johnson.
Luminaries were also lined up across the gym to remember those who lost their battle to cancer.
Survivors and their caregivers were given the honor to walk the first lap.
The event is still on till 1 a.m. Sunday so you can still come out and join in on the fun.
The Adair County Relay for Life has been going strong now for the past 15 years.
