It was all about competing for the best hunter chili Saturday afternoon.
The Missouri Department of Conservation and the Kirksville Tourism Office held The Wild Game Chili Cook Off at Ray Miller Elementary.
Eight teams had different types of chili to people to taste and vote on like wild turkey chili, black bear chili and deer chili.
"Hunters work all fall going out and doing their part for the department to help us manage wildlife. This is a fun way for them to hang out and talk to each other and the department to have fun with the community," said Marsha Jones of The Missouri Department of Conservation.
In the end, 3rd Place went to Dark Ops Solar Solutions for deer meat chili, 2nd Place went to Sodexo for black bear chili, 1st Place Beauty and the Beast team for deer meat chili, Grand Champion went to The Wild Turkey Federation for their turkey chili.
The event was a free will or canned food donation for the Christian Community Food Bank and Share the Harvest Program.
