Husband charged in Heartland woman's murder
A Heartland man has been arrested in connection with the death of Lisa Techel.
Wapello County Sheriffs Office has arrested her husband Seth Techel, 21, of Agency, Iowa, on Thursday, around 8:30 p.m. Seth Techel is charged with murder in the first degree, a class A felony , and nonconsensual termination of a human pregnancy, a class B felony.
Murder in the 1st Degree carries a maximum penalty of life in prison. Nonconsensual termination of a human pregnancy is a carries a penalty of 25 years in prison.
Lisa Marie Techel passed away on May 26 at her home, along with her unborn child. According to her obituary, she married her husband Seth Techel on October 15, 2011.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, May 31 at 10 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Ottumwa. Her burial will take place at Shaul Cemetery. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to the Shop-with-a-Cop program or Ottumwa Special Olympics.
Seth Techel's bond has been set at $750,000 cash only. He will be arraigned on the charges and transferred to a neighboring Countyâ??s correctional facility.
Wapello County Sheriff Don Kirkendall said he will have a press conference at 1 p.m. Thursday, where he will release more details.
