Illinois man airlifted following Putnam County crash
UNIONVILLE, Mo. —
An Illinois man was airlifted with serious injuries following a Thursday night crash in Putnam County.
The crash happened just before 8 p.m. on Wildflower Drive, four miles north of Unionville.
A 2004 Ford Escape driven by Robert Burton, 68, of Machesney Park, Ill., crossed the center line, striking an empty flatbed trailer being towed by a pickup truck.
The pickup was driven by Wendell Kurtz, 29, of Unionville.
Robert Burton was transported by Air Evac to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.
Burton’s wife, Linda, 66, received minor injuries.
According to the crash report, the Burton vehicle was a total loss.
The Missouri Highway Patrol was assisted at the crash by the Unionville Rural Fire Department.
