Improvements at Macon airport to be recognized
One Heartland airport is being recognized by a national association.
The American Concrete Pavement Association announced recently that the Macon-Fower Memorial Airport will be awarded the Best Concrete Airport Project in Missouri for 2013.
After using grants and funds to help expand and improve the airport with longer runways, new lighting, and equipment, city of Macon officials say the hard work was all worth it.
â??I think it shows not only was the project done, it was done correctly and above and beyond exceptions in quality levels. It's going to last for years and years in the future,â?? said Macon City Administrator Alan Muncy.
The award application was submitted by Emery Sapp and Sons Incorporated who was the general contractor for the project.
The award will be given to officials at the 34th annual Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Conference in Kansas City on February 27.
