The Macon Fower Memorial Airport is getting a major facelift. Through grants from the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration the runway will be expanding to 75 feet wide and 4,200 feet long. The airport also has a new Jet Propellant 8 fuel that can service more business aircrafts.
Macon City Administrator Allan Muncy said up until now, the airport was mainly used for general aviation, but this new runway will allow more business aircrafts to come to Macon. â??Economic development wise itâ??s a must for us because like I say time is money to these guys and if they can fly directly to you it's a plus for your community,â?? Muncy said.
Muncy said the total cost for the project is $3.5 million.
