Indian Hills Community College is looking for ways to give back.
The college has decided to include a Pay it Forward Week as part of April's National Community College Month celebrations. Different events and projects will get students and staff involved in the community and helping out where it's needed most.
"We think it'll be a way to really celebrate everything the Ottumwa community does for Indian Hills and then what Indian Hills can hopefully bring and give back to the Ottumwa community and our surrounding ten-county area," said Bianca Myers, Alumni and Foundations Development Coordinator at Indian Hills.
Myers said they already have a few events in mind, including a "Cans for Kindness" can drive, a pop can drive, with all proceeds going to Tenco in Ottumwa and a blood drive. However, they're looking for suggestions for a Pay It Forward Day.
Any non-profits or community service projects looking for volunteers are welcome to get in contact with Indian Hills. To submit suggestions, call 641-683-5302 or e-mail Bianca Myers at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Proposed projects should be submitted by March 21. Activities for Pay it Forward Week will run from April 21-25.
