Inmate escapes from jail, remains on the loose

Investigators are trying to locate an inmate who escaped from a northern Missouri jail.

The Mercer County Sheriff's Office says Tyler Hinshaw, 22, of Mercer, Mo., got away at 5:15 p.m. Sunday while another inmate was being released from weekend commitment.

Officials say Hinshaw forced his way past the jailer and took his personal possessions and fled from the facility.

Hinshaw, who is 5â?? 6â?? and weighs 140 pounds, was being held on parole violations and burglary charges and is not considered dangerous.

During the night, Hinshaw was seen in Leon, Iowa driving a blue Pontiac Grand Prix stolen from a Princeton business.

Decatur County deputies attempted to stop him, but Hinshaw fled, wrecking the vehicle. He then took off on foot and remains at-large.
