Interfaith food pantry distributes more produce
Milanâ??s Interfaith Food Pantry held a monthly food distribution in the Sullivan County Courthouse basement Thursday afternoon. This month, there were two food bank trucks of food to be distributed. Most of the food happened to be produce. Volunteers for the pantry began unloading the trucks Wednesday afternoon. All residents with a need are required to show identification, as well as fill out an application form requesting food.
"Today was very different because normally we don't get two trucks in the same week and because of the snow storm, we didn't have a truck from last week, so they delivered it all yesterday. We unloaded both trucks, but we still got the same amount," said volunteer Christine Deryke.
There was a new board member election held after the pantry distribution. The next distribution will be held on March 13th at the Sullivan County Courthouse. For more information on the Interfaith Food Pantry, visit their Facebook page.
