Iowa bikers spend time on scenic byway

Bike riders spent Saturday morning checking out what the 'Scenic Byway' from Ottumwa to Bloomfield has to offer.
The 47 mile ride had bikers passing through towns including Blakesburg, Unionville, and Drakesville.
In each town, the riders were able to take a break from the hot ride and enjoy water and snacks.
Bikers of all ages were invited to participate. Organizers of the event hope that those that rode on their bikes to the different towns Saturday, go back and visit to see what else they all have to offer.
"We are just trying to find opportunities to get people out on the byway, path on the byway, and give them an opportunity to support the local communities out there in Southeast Iowa along the byway," said Katy Anderson, of the Historic Hills Scenic Byway.
This is the first time the 'Bike the Byway' event has been held. Organizers are hoping for an even larger turn out in the years to come.
