Iowa man arrested after Kirksville taskforce sting

Tue, 11 Jun 2013 19:53:04 GMT — A northwest Iowa man is in custody facing sex related charges in Adair County, Mo. James Cathey, 42, of Cherokee, Iowa, is charged with four counts of attempted sexual misconduct involving a child less than 15 years old. He is currently being held in Cherokee County, Iowa awaiting extradition proceedings to be returned to Missouri. According to court papers, a member of the Kirksville Police Internet Crimes Taskforce was online undercover as a 14-year-old female. He was then invited several times to view Cathey's webcam. It was during these times that Cathey allegedly exposed himself on his web cam to what he thought was a 14-year-old female. Cathey was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Cherokee County authorities.
