Iowa State Tax Holiday Friday and Saturday
Fri, 02 Aug 2013 15:30:15 GMT —
Itâ??s a kickoff for back to school, and a pretty nice one at that.
Friday and Saturday is the 14th annual Iowa State Tax Holiday so there is no sales tax on select clothing and footwear.
There will be no sales tax collected on sales of articles of clothing having a selling price less than $100.
The weekend is meant to help families get ready for the quickly approaching school year.
You donâ??t have to go too far to do some shopping. The Ottumwa Chamber wants Ottumwans to keep their dollars local.
â??People have a myth that if they go out of town they can save more money. There is a lot of variety here in town with some downtown businesses and businesses over at the mall. So that money is multiplied numerous times when it gets spent here locally. So we encourage everybody to shop local when possible because it's the small businesses in town that are the ones that help the community,â?? said Tim Kurtz, Ottumwa Chamber Director.
