It's a big weekend for Rotary
It's a big weekend for Rotary International Clubs and several are celebrating right here at home.
Members of all 12 local Rotary Clubs in Missouri and Iowa met up for a dinner at the Dukum Inn in Kirksville early Saturday evening to kick off the Rotary Club's 109th Birthday Weekend.
Members mingled and had fun while enjoying some great food. They say it's amazing how much this organization has accomplished.
"If Rotary never started 109 years ago, we wouldn't be here. There wouldn't be a Rotary Park. There wouldn't be pollo eradication. For all those reasons, we want to celebrate the anniversary," said member Ray Klinginsmith.
The birthday celebration will continue Sunday morning at 10 a.m. with a brunch at the Kirksville Country Club.
Within the 109 years Rotary International has been around, they have 34,000 clubs around the world and 1.2 million members.
